Wright Heerema Architects is seeking an Interior Designer with strong proficiency in design development, as well as the creation of construction documents, for commercial interior design projects. This is a unique opportunity for a qualified candidate to join our project teams and contribute to the design and delivery of significant projects for a variety of commercial clients.
Design space plans for office interiors
Contribute to the design development of commercial interior design solutions
Develop and present design concepts to clients through proficient use of various tools including hand sketches and computerized 3d renderings
Select and develop color and material palettes
Self-produce complete sets of interior design construction documents and specifications
Develop comprehensive interior details such as millwork and partition details
Coordinate with team members, client and project consultants
Conduct sites surveys and create accurate existing condition documents
Research and recommend products and systems that support the overall design intent
Participate in construction administration activities
Desired Skills & Experience
Local candidate
5 years of professional experience in commercial interior design and the creation of interior construction documents
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited university
Highly proficient at Revit and AutoCAD
Highly proficient at computerized 3-d visualization and graphic programs including SketchUp, 3d Max, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator)
Strong hand sketching abilities
Positive, out-going, energetic and fun team player
Self-motivated and detail orientated
Ability to prioritize and work collaboratively on multiple projects at once
Strong knowledge of interior construction methods and building codes including Chicago Building Code
Excellent verbal and written communication skill
Registration and LEED certification a plus
